For the past 12 years, we have loved celebrating alongside our clients in their most treasured moments. In that time, we've photographed over 400 weddings, each beautiful and special in their own way. And every experience has allowed us to capture and present cherished memories in a timeless style, to be shared for generations.
This year, I'm excited to have you along as a part of our team on my client's wedding day! Before we jump in on the big day, let’s go over a few details to ensure our day together runs smoothly.
As always, if you have any questions about these guidelines or working together, please send me an email, call or text! Many details are specific to the occasion and together we’ll review all details prior to the day. I can’t wait to work with you!
Hello, I'm Megan.
Megan
You will work side by side with me on the wedding day to capture different angles, happenings, and moments that I might miss.
Depending on how tight our timeline is and how large our guest list is, here are some jobs of the second shooter:
+Document the getting ready of one spouse while I’m documenting the prep of the other
+Shooting the line-up before the ceremony, the back of the bride walking down the aisle, and capturing the “wide” shots from the back of the ceremony while I’m kneeling at the front of the ceremony capturing everyone walking down the aisle + facial expressions
+A back-up photographer during the first kiss just in case one of us might miss the moment!
+An extra hand to go grab a forgotten bridesmaids bouquet, pin on a tricky boutonnière, or run and grab that stray family member that wandered off before formal pictures were done
+Head to cocktail hour/reception early while I finish up portraits.
+If you see guests taking a group shot, please also go over to them and ask to take their photo.
+One of us watches the interaction between guests not on the dance floor while the other photographer tackles everyone breaking it down on the dance floor
+Focus on the candid shots while I focus on the “bigger” moments!
+Capturing guest interactions.
+We will go over the timeline together and you will know where you need to be when prior to the wedding day!
Maybe! If I hand you the 35mm Film Camera, please do not adjust any of the settings. If you notice that the aperture has clearly been bumped above
4.0, the shutter is in the thousands, etc, please ask me before adjusting so that I may advise you on which settings to apply!
If you are already a film shooter and you are confident in using a 35mm camera, wonderful! I may ask you to bring your own, but don't worry, I will supply you with film.
Yes! During certain elements of the day, I will need crisp, clear, digital backups to the film (getting in the Dress, walking down the aisle, first looks,
etc). You are responsible for capturing these. Please do not overshoot, but know that these images are important- in the event that the film is
compromised or lost, these images will be the ones that tell their story. In addition, please capture moments that I cannot see while I am capturing the
Bride and Groom (observing parents, tears, celebration, candids, etc).
Please shoot between f/2.2-2.8, as this aperture range will match the aesthetic of the film, and expose for the shadows on the face. If you are comfortable shooting more wide open than 2.2, please do so.
When photographing more than two people, please bump your aperture to
f/4.0. If you are asked to shoot in my absence, please photograph in the area I’ve directed you to and clean the surrounding area. I expect you to
move/remove anything distracting in your frame prior to taking any
photographs.
Images captured by an assistant or second photographer are the property of Megan Travis Photography. You are granted limited use on your private online gallery only.
At the conclusion of the event and transfer of images/cards, pay will be issued by check or cash only. Please provide 72 hours of notice if you prefer payment in cash.
things to keep in mind
+Be aware of your surroundings! If you are ever uncomfortable, please alert me to the
situation immediately.
+Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time.
+Take care of your feet. Bring extra shoes and wear what’s cozy on your toes but still look professional, please.
+Be friendly and go with the flow! Timelines change at the drop of a hat, but it’s our
job to keep the day stress-free for the Bride and Groom, even if it’s crazy.
+Keep track of the Family Shot List! It’s important that groupings are not overlooked!
They are specifically requested by the Bride and Groom and are an important
part of their story.
+Please don’t wear white. White contained within a pattern or a texture is acceptable,
but please avoid anything predominantly (or majority) white.
+Do not provide your business information to any of the guests or clients. You don’t
want them to contact you about photos, I promise!
+Please do not take or share any iPhone photos at the event on your phone.
+Please do not answer for me. If a coordinator approaches you with a question or
notification, please direct them to me!
+Do not consume any alcohol or substances before, during or after the event.
+Please ask what attire is appropriate on our timeline meeting or before the wedding day. Some of our client's weddings are black tie, and others are more casual! All things considered, please be mindful that you’ll be bending, squatting, twisting, etc throughout the day. Be mindful of your attire’s neckline, hem-length and functionality.
+When shooting, please be mindful of cutting off peoples' feet, hands, or head.
